Which Incoterm should I use when importing?

Short answer

Many importers prefer FOB (sea) or FCA (any mode) because they control the main freight and can see the full cost. EXW gives the most control but the most responsibility. CIF, CFR or DAP are simpler upfront but hand control of the freight to the supplier.

The detail

The right term depends on your supplier relationship, volumes and how much control you want over cost and timing.

Whatever you choose, make sure the named place is precise and that your contract, invoice and freight booking all match.
