What is an EORI number and do I need one?

Short answer

An EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number identifies your business to customs. You need a GB EORI to import or export goods between Great Britain and countries outside the UK. It's free to apply for through GOV.UK.

The detail

Moving goods between Northern Ireland and the EU may also need an XI EORI.

Your EORI appears on customs declarations, so make sure suppliers and your forwarder have the correct number.
